    1. Cinnamon Sugar Cake Doughnuts



    Impress your guests with these doughnuts that you can really say you made them yourself. Soft and cakey, these hole-in-the-middle pastries will sell out fast. They can be fun to make with the kids, too. Just leave the frying to mom and dad. 

    Makes 16 doughnuts

    3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    1 cup flour
    1 tablespoon baking powder
    1 cup sugar
    2 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
    1/4 cup unsalted butter
    4 yolks from large eggs
    1 cup sour cream, at room temperature
    shortening for deep-frying (we used four 16-ounce cans crisco)
    1 cup sugar
    1 to 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

    2. Frozen Key Lime Bars




    Here’s another impressive dessert that’s amazingly easy to make. Cool and refreshing, it definitely pairs well with swimming and garden parties. This needs chilling, though, so make sure you prepare it a day in advance. 

    Makes 8 servings

    1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
    1/3 cup melted butter
    1 tablespoon melted butter
    2 tablespoons sugar
    1 (225-gram) bar cream cheese, softened
    1 can sweetened condensed milk
    1 tablespoon unflavored gelatin
    3 tablespoons fresh milk
    3/4 cup fresh lime juice
    2 teaspoons lime zest

    3. Doughnut Pops



    You’ll laugh out loud at how pretty and effortless these doughnut pops are. The trick to this is to get the most colorful paper straws and sprinkles you can find. You can also play around with the chocolate -- milk and white chocolate are wonderful options as well.

    5 bite-sized mini doughnuts

    4. Panna Cotta



    If you've got enough containers, definitely consider making panna cotta for your kid’s party. You've probably already got most of the ingredients for it in your pantry right now. Top with fruits in season, and it's perfect.

    5. Frozen Choco Bananas



    The kids can help out with this 3-ingredient recipe. It even involves two of a kid's favorite things: sprinkles and mini marshmallows! The more variety the better. Serve on colorful plates or napkins, or decorate the sticks with a ribbon for extra fun!

    5. Chocolate Cookies




    Yes, you can make choco cookies without an oven! The secret is to use quick-cooking oats in place of flour. In just 20 minutes you’ll have a whole dozen of these cookies.  Bonus, these are packed with magnesium, zinc and iron -- you can brag about that to your mommy friends. 

    Makes 10 to 12 cookies

    1/4 cup unsalted butter
    1/3 cup sugar
    1/4 cup milk
    2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
    1/4 cup peanut butter
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1 1/2 cups quick-cooking oats

    7. Cake balls



    Can't have too much cake at a birthday party! These chocolate cake balls can instantly add a pop of color to your food table. Bring them out at dessert time though because these are best eaten chilled. They're also great to make after the party when you've got cake leftover.

    12 balls

    2 cups chocolate cake crumbs
    3 tablespoons icing sugar, sifted
    1 table spoon light corn syrup
    2 tablespoons water or replace 1 teaspoon for flavoring of your choice (vanilla,orange, almond, etc.)
    1/2 cup icing sugar, sifted
    1/2 cup cocoa powder, sifted
    chocolate sprinkles or edible confetti
    small cupcake paper liners, to serve
