To halt neonatal deaths and to promote breastfeeding, the Department of Health has promised to shoulder the hospital bills of nursing moms.

breastfeedingRecently, the Department of Health (DOH) gave a promise to shoulder the hospital expenses of mothers breastfeeding their newborn, as part of its “Newborn Package”.

This incentive is dependent on the place where the mother gave birth: P6,500 if at a hospital and P1,750 if in lying-in clinics.

The said program aims to decrease the incidence of neonatal deaths in the country and promote breastfeeding as still the best source of sustenance for newborns. Breastfeeding can help moms save as much as P2,000 every month, according to the DOH.

Celebrities such as Daphne Osena-Paez and Audrey Zubiri are said to endorse the program.

    i will pop anytime now. is this being implemented already especially at Government hospitals where they are strict with breastfeeding.
