The World Health Organization recommends eating at least 400 g, or five servings, of fruits and vegetables per day,* but approximately 75 percent of people around the world fail to meet that minimum recommendation.
This is just one of the findings revealed in the Nutrilite Global Phytonutrient Report, one of the few reports that examines global fruit and vegetable intake and availability, and the potential implications on health, reveals a gap between the amount of fruits and vegetables recommended by the World Health Organization and what people actually eat. That gap can be caused by busy schedules, limited access to any or a variety of fresh produce, as well as personal taste preferences.
“These results are a big part of helping people understand how they can and should eat in order to fill their nutritional gaps and make an investment each and every day to live healthier lives for the benefit of their families and for themselves," said Dr. Keith Randolph, technology strategist at the Nutrilite Health Institute.
Nutrilite's philosophy of optimal health embodies healthy balanced nutrition that includes an abundance of plant foods and regular physical activity or exercise as two key foundational components for everyone.
Why take supplements? Supplements can improve core nutrition and deliver the quantity and variety of nutrients that experts recommend. Plant-based supplements are a convenient way to enrich the quantity and variety of phytonutrients in the diet.

For 80 years, Nutrilite has recognized the powerful health benefits of phytonutrients, which are potent nutrients found in plant foods. Phytonutrients are now recognized as key dietary components that contribute to healthy aging and support optimal health. Plant-based supplements contain phytonutrients that naturally occur in fruits and vegetables and can help to achieve optimal health and well-being.
