1. Have a Gift Hunt
Double the fun in gift giving by making your wife “hunt” for the gift! Plant written clues with the help of your kids, in key places around the house and lead her to a hunt for her gifts, surprise or a treat! Bring out your creative side, and your wife’s love for shopping!
2. A Surprise AVP presentation
Put together her photographs and create an audio-visual presentation with a very fitting music to go with it. Add videos of your kids affirming mom on her special day! Gather the whole family and watch the video together on your chosen time on Mother’s Day.
3. Send a Package
Here’s a variation of the gift hunt: instead of simply handing your wife her gift, send it through the local courier. Include a handwritten letter or a greeting card. Add gifts from each member of the family. Guaranteed, she will be pleasantly surprised.
4. Surprise her with a Party
Awaken the party planner in you! Plan a themed lunch party for your wife and get help from your kids or friends to set it up at home. Order party set food from a local restaurant or your favorite caterer, buy themed decors and party knickknacks and prepare a game or two. On mother’s day, whisk your wife away from the house, while the rest of the household sets up your mini party!
5. Make an Album/Scrapbook
Good old memories warm the heart. If you are not the artsy daddy, a little help from your kids would do wonders. Make a digital printed scrapbook or the traditional one. Write some notes and thoughts about your wife that you all hold dear about her. On Mother’s Day, gather the family and present it to her by having everyone read what they wrote.
6. A Gift Voucher
If you do not know what to give your wife, make a personal gift voucher for her. It could be from any of her favorite shops, a subscription of her favorite magazine, a monthly facial treat or even a choice of restaurant to dine in. If budget is a problem, you can make “personal” vouchers that would entitle her to, for example, an extra hour of sleep on Sundays, a foot massage courtesy of you, etc.
7. Accompany Your Wife to a Shopping Treat
Show her the ultimate male sacrifice by being her shopping buddy! As a bonus, you may even want to pay for her purchases if you’re feeling extra-generous. Whatever the gift, the important thing is to have your wife feeling special on Mother’s Day. It shows that you have thought of her and went out of your way to make the occasion memorable.Ichel Alignay, Contributor
