Colorful aliens on the wall lead you to a strange region. At the gate, space cadets and cosmic girls with pink hair and white jumpsuits greet us. The theme music pulls my kids straight into the portal, forgetting they have a parent in tow.
Rides Galore: Spinning Sling Shot, Plasma Pool
We're at Cosmic Kidz, the new and play place in town at SM Mall of Asia. The kids have found their paradise. Julia loves letting her hair flip as she dangles on the Spinning Sling Shot. My cautious toddler, JC, prefers the Rocking Ship and the Waterfall Slide. He can go all day jumping and rolling on the Plasma Pool.
My daughter was hesitant to use the potty pad, she thought it would take off while she was busy using it.
Second Level: Educational Gizmos, Chamber of Balloons
At the second level, Julia plays at the Apollo stairs and worm hole slide. At the comfyland is the Zu f.o., an animal merry-go-round. JC likes the panda being an Oso fan.
He soon pulls me along to "jam" with him at the musical corner while he waits for his turn at the computer car. All the gizmos are educational, covering music, science, math, visual arts, motion and creativity.
JC's newfound friend leads him to the chamber of balloons where their giggles float just like the balloons. He crosses into the crystal ball pool. It reflects the colors of the light beaming from the floor like a disco mirror ball.
The Big, Red slide for Bigger Kids
Julia needs to be with a guardian to take the big red slide so off we go. Holding her tight, I feel my heart pounding as we swoosh down. It’s very steep and scary, no wonder it's only for bigger kids.
Third Level: Cannonball Zone, ‘Copter Cockpit and Spider Web
On the 3rd level is the gamma Cannonball Zone much bigger than other jungle gyms. The ‘Copter Cockpit is a best seller, giving a full view of the grounds. Julia's favorite is the Spider Web where she hangs upside down. I don't know how she does it.
The kids played until this Mama got tired and hungry. They had a good time but even good things have to come to end. At the end of our adventure, we got some ice cream freebies and found some DVD movies at Astro Kids. Julia spied another item for her wish list at the Sanrio shop. The toys displayed at the mini-Toy Kingdom also caught JC’s eye. We all had dinner at the Selecta Creamery Restaurant and ice cream bar just behind Cosmic Kids. It’s kiddie themed, has a kiddie menu, and is totally kid friendly.
Cosmic Kidz is located at the heart of Selecta Kids Universe, ground floor, Southpark Building, SM Mall of Asia.
Rates range from P180 to P480. Promo rate is P300 unlimited play Monday-Thursday (except holidays).
Tips for Moms: Kids and companions should be in loose, comfortable clothes covering the legs in case you need to have a go on the slide with your child. No place to sit for guardians but the floor. Longer playtime means thirstier kids. Be equipped.
