• 6 Celebrities Reveal Their Favorite Children's Books Growing Up

  • After changing into pajamas and brushing their teeth, little kids are wrestled into bed and read children's books until they drift off to sleep. We imagine exactly the same scenario for these celebs when we asked them their favorite books from childhood. See if you and the kids have any favorites in common with them!

    “I used to read Nancy Drew. Dr. Seuss too. I still read Dr. Seuss, eh!”

    Nancy Drew is a popular series of mystery novels marketed for girls that was first published in 1930. For every book in the series, the title character, Nancy Drew, embarks on an adventure to solve a mystery by following clues and applying deductive reasoning. Read this at home to inspire your child to become intelligent and independent!

    Medyo old school ako pag dating diyan because when I was a little girl I read—they still sell it now—The Tale of Peter Rabbit. I have the whole collection. It’s a whole collection of 12 books in a box. I have to say that’s my favorite.”

    The Tale of Peter Rabbit is the first in the beloved Peter Rabbit series. It tells the tale of mischevious Peter who goes exploring into Mr. McGregor's garden after his mom explicitly tells him and his sisters not to. It's a story all too familiar to naughty children. Other tales in the series include that of Squirrel Nutkin, Benjamin Bunny, Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle and more.

    All classic children's stories, Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh and Alice in Wonderland have all been adapted into beloved Disney movies. Original authors of the books were J.M. Barrie (first published in 1911) , A. A. Milne (the most popular in the series titled Winnie-the-Pooh was first published in 1926) and Lewis Caroll (first published as Alice's Adventures in Wonderland in 1865) consecutively.

    The Mr. Men and Little Miss series started as a collection of six books by Roger Hargreaves in 1971. Each character, of which Mr. Tickle was the first, stars in his or her own short and fun take-along book. There are now close to 100 characters with Little Miss Sunshine probably being the most recognizable.

    Anoter classic, written by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, The Little Prince is about life, love, friendship and growing up told through the tale of the Little Prince who comes from another planet only to land on Earth and meet a pilot stranded in the dessert. Recently, the tale has been adapted into a beautiful animated film, released in 2015. And a continuation of the tale where the Little Prince has grown into a teenager, titled The Return of the Young Prince written by A. G. Roemmers, was published just this September.

    “I always remember the Dr. Seuss books—Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat. My dad got me a lot of the Dr. Seuss books when I was a little kid. ”

    Dr. Seuss was the pen name of Theodor Seuss Geisel. Under it he wrote beloved children's classic books such as The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, Oh, the Places You'll Go, The Lorax, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Horton Hears a Who and many more. Aside from tackling important life lessons such as greed, perseverance, racism and self-discovery in a children's book, the Dr. Seuss collection is also well-known for being written in sensible and silly rhyming verses. “And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed.)” That one's from Oh, the Places.
