If your kids' rooms are a big mess, help is here. Check out this cheat sheet to keep children's rooms neat and clean.
DESIGNATE A SPOT FOR EVERYTHING
A clear plastic box for toys, a hamper for used clothes, and a trash bin for, well, trash keep things in order. Involve your child in the process of packing away so that he, too, can clean up without you having to prompt him.
These containers tend to get dirty quickly, so make sure to clean them regularly by using a household cleaner like Pine-Sol® Lemon Fresh All-Purpose Cleaner to give them a good de-gunking and to keep the room germ-free.
While exposure to natural lighting is a great way to disinfect, it's still best to choose a disinfectant that has powerful ingredients that can act on tough mess, like Original Pine-Sol® All-Purpose Cleaner. Put your child's blocks, stacking cups, and balls inside a bucket with a mixture of 4 liters of warm water and half cup of Pine-Sol® cleaner, and allow to sit for a few minutes before rinsing thoroughly. Cleaning toys and frequently touched areas such as doorknobs regularly can decrease the spread of flu and other viruses among family members.
CLEAN FLOORS AND WALLS
If you have a little artist at home, chances are you have "artwork" on the wall. All you need to de-smudge it is about ¼ cup of Pine-Sol® mixed with 4 liters of water. Dip a rag or sponge in this solution, and then wipe the wall. (Read more about how to de-smudge walls.)
Grape juice and spilled liquids can leave unsightly marks on fabrics and carpets. Try using an old toothbrush to scrub spots with Pine-Sol® Lavender Clean and immediately rinse with water. This will leave the room spotless and with a calming scent. (Plus: Read about how to clean linoleum floors.)
SORT THINGS OUT
Put small clothes and old toys in boxes for donation, or reserve them for younger siblings and cousins. Involve your child and go through the things inside his cabinets and drawers together; toss away those he might not need or want any time soon. Follow the advice of acclaimed Japanese organizing consultant Marie Kondo: "Get rid of items which do not spark joy in you."
Once you've finished eliminating clutter in the kid's room, you can now wipe and polish cabinets, racks, and other furniture. Give them that shiny, "just cleaned" look by using Pine-Sol® All-Purpose Cleaner Sparkling Wave to get rid of dust and germ build-up around the room.
An all-around cleaner like Pine-Sol® can save you time and money with just a few swipes and scrubs. Pine-Sol® All-Purpose Cleaner has 4x cleaning action: It disinfects*, deodorizes, cuts grease, and removes grime. Its concentrated formula also allows you to save money; even if diluted, it can still effectively clean. A 500 ml bottle of Pine-Sol® All-Purpose Cleaner can make 33.3 liters of cleaning solution.
