  • We were looking through Parent Chat, Smart Parenting's online forum, when we encountered a hidden gem: the "kids say the darnest things" thread! Here, moms shared the funniest things said by their kiddos. We couldn't keep them to ourselves! So, here are 15 of some of their hilarious anecdotes:

    1. Very good?

From my first born Kian when he was about 3 years old:

Me: Kian, what word starts with the letter “O”?
    Kian: Ocean.
Me: Very good! How about a word that starts with the letter “L”?
    Kian: Apple!
Me: No, that doesn't start with the letter “L”
    Kian: Ok. Little apple!

    2. Commuting 101

Sinama ko ang anak ko sa palengke.

Lea (dressed chicken vendor): Hello pogi! Ngayon nalang ulit kita nakita ah!
    Geno: Opo. “PARA!”

    3. Sounds like!

My son's full name is Juan Gabriel, who was around 3 years old during this conversation.

Me: Let's say your name together. Repeat after Mama. Juan?
Gabs: (with a sincere expression) Two, three, four...

    4. Makeup for moms

Every morning, my daughter watches me when I prepare for work. One day she asked:

Pia: Mommy, ang lipstick ba is for big girls lang?
Me: Yes, pang-dalaga lang and pang-mommy.
    Pia: Pang Teacher Rona din?
Me: Yes. Why? You want this on your lips?

    5. Close enough

We were at the hospital for my baby's check up. I was carrying her (11 months old) when she saw another toddler. My baby was smiling at the other kid.

Me: Baby, say hello to him.
Baby: (placed his right hand on his ear) “Ho?”

Akala niya kapag “hello” sa phone na.

    6. Busog sa pagmamahal

Me: Pia, mataba ba talaga si mom?
    Pia: Opo.
    Me: Bakit mo nasabi?
    Pia: Kasi love kita, eh.

    7. Single parent woes

Ang dad niya works in a broadcasting company. Kapag napapadaan kami sa area na ‘yun, I would tell her na that’s where daddy works…in the high tower.

Iah: I'll rescue daddy in the high tower.
    Lola: Bakit?
Si mommy ang witch, she puts daddy in the high tower.

    8. “Mama, I know English!”

Summary of the story is: Spiderboy saved a young girl left on the 10th floor of a building where an explosion happened. Sa likod ng storybook, may mga questions. Tinanong ko si Geno:

Ako: Sino yung character sa story?
    Geno: Si Spiderboy po.
    Ako: Ano yung sumabog?
    Geno: Um... Nag “explode” po!

Next time kasi, linawin ang tanong!

    9. Baka nga!

My 6-year-old came home with a sad face on his reminder notebook for two consecutive days. When I asked him why the teacher placed sad faces on his notebook, this is what my son had to say:

Son: “Maybe Teacher doesn't know how to draw happy face, only sad face!”

    10. It’s the thought that counts?

Me: Ah, sakit ng tiyan ko...
    Kent: Mommy, pag-pray kita.

(Pumikit at pinatong kamay sa tiyan ko. Pabulong-bulong.)

Me: Anak, ano sinabi mo kay Papa Jesus?

    11. Age restrictions

Nag-grocery kami since may malapit na dito sa amin. My kiddo, dadamputin ang magustuhan niya tapos lilingon sa akin sabay, “Mama?” He wants to know kung ok lang sa akin. Kaya ‘pag may dadamputin siya sagot ko na lang, “That's for mommies” or “That's not for babies.”

Me: Lei, can Mama have a taste, please?

Lila: No! This for babies! (same sa tono ko kanya sa grocery)
Me: ??? (hindi na lang naka-imik)

    12. Nursery rhymes

Sit down! (may konting lisik ang mata para matakot)
Anak: Sit down? You're rocking the boat?

Ayun, may palusot na naman. Kulit talaga ng anak ko.

    13. Pilosopo or not?

This was my daughter after namin namili ng boots (we were going to a party):

    Me: Saan mo isusuot yan?
    Meg: Sa paa ko...

    Anak: Opo, Mama Chelle.
    Me: Kakasabi ko lang eh…

    Later...

    15.  Ice cream chronicles

Inutusan ni hubby ang anak namin:

Hubby: Ate, clean mo na yung room. Pack up mo na yung toys nyo.
Daughter: (dirediretso daw sa ref) Daddy, I will eat ice cream muna.
Hubby: Mamaya na ‘yan after mo mag-clean. Sige na.
Daughter: (nakapamewang pa raw) No, Daddy. I will eat ice cream first para strong ako ‘pag nag pack up, ‘di ba? I’m weak, look. Can’t open the cup!
