Real 'Jurassic Park' unearthed in Australia Just when we thought the 1993 sci-fi blockbuster movie was merely a product of brilliant filmmakers' imagination, paleontologists from the University of Queensland and James Cook University have discovered a real-life 'Jurassic Park' along the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Reports say a total of 21 different types of dinosaur tracks were unearthed in rocks that are up to 140 years old. Steve Salisbury, lead author of a paper on the findings published in the Memoir of the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology, said, "Among the tracks is the only confirmed evidence for stegosaurs in Australia. There are also some of the largest dinosaur tracks ever recorded." The area was almost turned into a natural gas processing precinct in 2008, but after a thorough investigation, has been awarded National Heritage status in 2011, and the gas project subsequently collapsed. Founder of Scary Mommy website touched by kids' reaction to her and gay husband's divorce
The founder of popular parenting website Scary Mommy is facing divorce after 17 years of marriage. Jill Smokler, 39, and her husband Jeff, also 39, have mutually agreed to separate because Jeff is gay. Jill says she was surprised that their three kids Lily, 13; Ben, 11; and Evan, 9, took the news well. She told people.com, “We told our daughter first. Jeff did most of the talking and he just started with, ‘We haven’t been happy for awhile.’ He told her about the separation and that the reason why is because he’s gay. Her immediate response was to get up and give him a great big hug and tell him how much she loved him. I still get chills when I think about it — it was just such a compassionate and mature response. I was so afraid of her immediate response being angry or embarrassed — just anything negative — but it wasn’t.” Jill and Jeff now live separately and the kids stay with their dad three nights a week.
On her Instagram account, Jill relayed a conversation her youngest son had three weeks ago with his classmates, which speaks of so much love and acceptance:
"We will still be a family, it’s just a different kind of family,” Jill says. (people.com)
