Foregoing her career was an easy decision to make, Sunshine Cruz says. After all, she wanted nothing else but to be a full-time mom to her three angels.
Though Sunshine was at the height of her career and just 22 years old when she married actor and now TV host Cesar Montano in 2000, the actress decided to focus on her family. Soon enough, their union was blessed with three angels: Angelina Isabelle, who is now 7 years old, Samantha Angelene, 4 years, and Angel Franchesca, 3 years. Sunshine then multi-tasked her way to what she hoped would be a “happily ever after” kind of life.
“In terms of my parenting style, I think I’m more of the disciplinarian—firm but within reason. I talk to my kids and discuss with them the cause and effect of their actions. I try my best to be a hands-on mom,” she says.
On any given day, a big chunk of Sunshine’s time is devoted to her children. She prepares them for school, helps with their homework, watches TV or movies with them, plays with them. She’s also active in her kids’ school, reading stories in their classes every so often. “These are rewarding experiences. Not only do I get to know their friends, I also see the delight in my daughters’ eyes each time I participate in their school activities,” she says.
Their home is a balance of order and merriment. In fact, the best time of day for the four beauties is their regular dance session. After dinner, they all troop to Mommy’s room to party, with the soundtrack of High School Musical booming in the background. Trust the multitasking mom in Sunshine to combine exercise time with bonding time.
