5. Helping others really help you in return A new study published in the Clinical Psychological Science found that acts of kindness to others--no matter how small--helps improve one's outlook in life. These good-Samaritan acts can also help one better deal with stress. The study also suggests that pro-social behavior, doing good for others, could be used as a treatment for depression or chronic stress. “Stressful days usually lead us to have a worse mood and poorer mental health, but our findings suggest that if we do small things for others, such as holding a door open for someone, we won’t feel as poorly on stressful days,” explains researcher Emily Ansell via a press release. And when better to start this positive habit than this holiday season, right? (yahoo.com)
