. Breastfeeding may not help prevent kids' allergies
New research claims that children who were formula-fed and breastfed kids, regardless of duration, are equal in terms of their likelihood of developing allergies. The new study, which will be presented at the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology on Thursday, looked into medical records of nearly 200 children between ages four and 18. However, study author Dr. Quindelyn Cook, a resident physician in pediatrics at the University of Chicago Medical Center, still urges mothers to breastfeed their babies as the study still needs to be done on a larger scale and with more defined parameters such as the length of time a baby is breastfed. At the 2015 Cake International Competition held in Birmingham, England, British baker Lara Clarke of Tasty Cakes created a cake in the Royal tot's likeness--and it looks just like him! Lara modeled the cake after photos of Prince George at his baby sister's Christening, and it was so cute she won the gold prize. Lara has made cakes in the images of Jennifer Lawrence and Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow of the Pirates of the Caribbean films. This is her third year and she decided to make the cake because she "loves the royal family, it's one of the best parts of being British," she says. (bbc.com

    5. Pediatricians are calling for stricter cell-phone use for kids
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) urges the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), a government agency that decides how much radiation mobile phones are allowed to emit, to revise their guidelines and limit kids' cell-phone use. The current guidelines were last updated in 1996. The AAP says that by the way mobiles phones are used today, the amount of radio frequency that children will be exposed by the time they are adults is exponential to the amount of radiation adults today are being exposed to in their lifetime. It urges the agency to adapt new standards that protect children's health, reflect use patterns of cellphone users today, and "provide consumers the information they need to make informed decisions."
