• Top of the Morning: Paul Soriano is Ready To Be A Dad!

Plus, trailer for "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children", Etsy's new-parent leave policy, and more
  • 1. Paul Soriano is ready to be a dad

When asked about his wife's rumored pregnancy, director Paul Soriano refused to confirm nor deny if indeed Toni Gonzaga is on the family way because he said it is not the right time to address the issue. However, when asked if he was ready to be a dad, Paul said, “I was prepared even before we got married. I was ready then and I’m ready now; whenever God wills it, I will embrace it. Like I said, I thrive in uncertainty." He also said he wants to have twins if he had a choice because he's curious about them and he could dress them alike. “Whatever God gives, at the end of the day we’ll be happy. It’s a blessing so we’ll be happy with it,” he said. (pep.ph)

    2. Watch: Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children's first trailer

Director Tim Burton is at it again. Inspired by Ransom Rigg's best-selling novel of the same title, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children gives us a look at the kids' strange, wonderful, and unique abilities. The trailer is boasting of special effects such as Miss Peregrine, played by Eva Green, morphing into a falcon, an invisible child playing football, a gravity-defying teenager named Ella, and more. It looks interestingly fun until the thrill begins. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is set premiere this September. (mashable.com)

    3. Etsy offers new parental leave policy
Starting April 1, the Brooklyn-based company known for selling hand-crafted goods will give new parents 26 weeks parental leave (or 5 1/2 months) to both new moms and dads after giving birth or having a baby via adoption. From giving only 12 weeks off to "primary caregivers", Etsy raised the bar by not only adding more leave credits, but also extending the new-parent leave policy to cover secondary caregivers, too. The company is joined by an elite group of companies in the U.S., such as Netflix, Facebook, and Spotify, that all offer parental leaves to both parents. (huffingtonpost.com)

    4. Ne-Yo welcomes new baby

Singer-songwriter Ne-Yo and wife Crystal Renay have welcomed their new baby, a rep confirms to E! News. Renay shared the first photo of their healthy baby boy via Snapchat, announcing that "Prince SJ has arrived." This is the first child for the couple; however, Ne-Yo is already a dad to two kids from a previous relationship. The two announced the pregnancy in August, adding that they're also engaged to be married this year (the wedding happened last February). Congratulations! (eonline.com)

    5. Happy kids, healthy hearts
Yet another reason to let kids enjoy their childhood: a study found that kids who live in a stress-free environment may grow up to be adults with good cardiovascular health. Children who had a stress-free childhood have been found to be 15-percent less likely to suffer heart attacks compared to kids who experience social, emotional, and financial difficulties during childhood. Researchers suspect that it’s because happier children develop healthy habits that contribute to their overall health. The new study, however, does not prove that childhood stress is a direct cause of heart ailments, such as clogged arteries and heart attacks. (gmanetwork.com
