• We Have No Words For This So-Called Maternity Photo Shoot

The first time we saw these photos we didn't know whether to laugh or cringe.

  • We're sure you've heard it before. Filipino men have always joked that they're pregnant with their beer bellies posing as two- or three-month (sometimes even four months!) baby bumps. The joke never grows old, right?

Well, today is the day that that the classic pun has been immortalized in ad photos for a beer company. Created by advertising agency Jung von Matt for German beer brand Bergedorfer Beir, it shows men cradling their beer bellies, calling to mind maternity boudoir shots. Boudoir photography is the kind that features intimate, romantic, and sometimes erotic images of its subject--even pregnant women.

We, however, are not quite sure how to describe these photos. Check out their paternal glow (read: you may never be able to unsee these photos).

While its tag line "Brewed with Love" seems fit for the beer brand, it doesn't really give sound advice for men who want to be fathers. Researchers from Georgetown University Medical Center found that even if dads will not be carrying the babies for nine months, consuming large amounts of alcohol can still negatively affect their kids. The study found that children with dads who are heavy alcohol drinkers have higher chances of suffering from alcohol abuse even if their moms didn't consume alcohol at all.

That said, men who want to be dads someday should cut back on the beer and put on the "sympathy pounds" by consuming healthier stuff. Men could better support their pregnant partners by being sober, for starters. Go for your pregnant wife's food cravings that they'd only take one bite or two of, so the food wouldn't go to waste. And if after “being pregnant with your partner” results in an evident pseudo-baby bump, these could be one of your pegs peg for your couple maternity shoot. The photos would make a one hell of a good story to tell your child in the future. Do it in the spirit of fun! But maybe with some clothes on? What do you think?
