Find out why exercise is not only physically but emotionally rewarding.

As Reese Witherspoon so eloquently put it in the movie Legally Blonde: “Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people don’t shoot their husbands. They just don’t.”

Aside from a rush of endorphins, getting at least 30 minutes of cardio three times a week increases your heart rate and kicks your metabolism into higher gear, helping you burn calories and work your muscles. A surge of happy hormones plus a slimmer, fitter you—now that ought to put a spring in your step.

If you can’t head to the gym:

  • Take evening walks in your village with your husband.
  • Crank up the speakers and dance your way through your chores.
  • You can even have your hyperactive kids join in on the fun!
