3 Crafts to Make for the New Baby
By Grace Marcellana
Give your bundle of joy a warm welcome by whipping up these cool DIY presents with the kids! It’s a great way to get the older siblings excited for their new role as Ate or Kuya. Plus, it’s a fun way to spend some quality time with the kids before the new baby comes along.
Craft # 1 : Curious Buddies
Turn mittens or booties into fun hand puppets!

Materials: Felt cloth, pencil, scissors, mittens (or booties), needle, black thread, velcro, craft glue
Step 1: Place felt cloth on a clean work surface. Use a pencil to draw the kitty’s head.
Step 2: Draw two eyes (a little larger than a pencil eraser in diameter), a round nose (about 2-inches wide), and four whiskers (about 3-inches long and ¼-inch wide). Cut out these shapes and the kitty’s head with scissors.
Step 3: Attach the eyes, the nose, and the whiskers on the head with craft glue.
Step 4: Using a needle and thread, stitch one side of the Velcro onto the mitten and the other side onto the kitty head. Place the stitches on each corner of the nose or eyes.
Step 5: Make different animal patterns, and watch your baby coo with delight as his older siblings perform a puppet show for him.
