My 3-year-old son, Tarko, has the complete Brainy Baby Learning Tab Books which consist of four books: the ABC’s, the 123’s, the Shapes & Colors, and the Animals. My son’s favorite books were all given (and completed) by my best friend, Gail, who became his ninang as well.
Our nightly reading routine, in fact, began with Brainy Baby books. My son learned to easily identify, at a young age, the letters of the alphabet, colors, shapes, numbers, and animals through these books. As a parent, I found the large, attractive, and colorful drawings the ideal size for babies and toddlers. And I could see that my son really enjoyed these colorful images as well.
When he was around one year old, I would sometimes leave a book with him in his crib to observe what he would do. I noticed he would leaf through the pages and even kiss the pictures! I have a video of him kissing his books and it was amusing to watch over and over again.
Until today, after almost 3 years in my son’s hands, we still have his Brainy Baby books, though I hate to admit it’s not in perfect condition anymore–proof that my son couldn’t keep his hands off these books! But I still keep it with us to remind him when he grows up how and where his love for reading began.
My best friend purchased Brainy Baby Books from Powerbooks. You can also check out their website at www.brainybaby.com.
