the going to bed bookMy son Yanthy got this board book as a gift from his older cousin when he was a little more than a year old. My husband and I read it to him almost every night before we put him to sleep and he enjoyed listening to the story very much because it was about animals in a big boat just like one of his favorite Bible stories, Noah’s Ark. He liked looking at the pictures which he found very funny -- like the pig who was sleeping under the stairs (while the rest of the animals are on their way up to the deck) on the front cover. He could relate to the animals in the story for they go through most of the things we ask him to do before he goes to bed like taking a bath, brushing his teeth and putting on his pajamas.

Yanthy liked to imitate the animals, and he would even try to hang his towel on the handle of his closet although it was quite high for his height because it says in the book that “they hang their towels on the wall.” I think he liked listening to the story, too, because of the rhymes which sounded very pleasant, they were almost like music minus the melody. In fact, after reading it to him every night and sometimes even before his afternoon nap, he eventually memorized it months before his second birthday.
