Special Outing (Dinner or Brunch) - 37.8%

Flowers - 5.4%

Clothing or Clothing Accessories - 2.7%

They like a special outing (like a brunch or dinner with the family) but a spa, facial or massage beats all the other types of gifts. Clothing and jewelry ranked lowest at 2.7% and flowers outranked them at 5.4%. By far, what SP moms want on Mother’s Day seems to be a little peace and quiet.

A Whole Day Off From Household Chores

SP mom Chie77 explains it this way, “Of course, as a mom, I’ll always choose something that includes the whole family. But if you were to ask me, and just me, what I want, then, something fun like a massage, facial or spa would be for me.” A lot of moms expressed some guilt over choosing something that wasn’t for the entire family. However, when they re-examined the question, they chose something that would give them a little quiet time. As eowyn put it, “I chose spa since I hardly find the time for that as a working mom, but then again, I would still like to post what I really want for mother's day: “A whole day off from all the household chores—no worries about what we are going to eat for breakfast, lunch or dinner. No dirty laundry to think about; a day when I don't have to fear pasma after ironing a basket of clothes. Simply a day without worries. But if that's really impossible, then a day at The Farm in San Benito will make me very happy.”

It seems that a lot of moms just need a little me time with their friends. They devote so much of their waking hours to their loved ones. They even feel guilty about wanting something just for themselves on Mother’s Day! At the end of the day, if you want to honor a fellow mom or your mom, listen to the SP Forum moms and give her a day of pampering, peace and quiet.
