    • Leans forward with back rounded
    • May stand with hands free when leaning on something
    • May use furniture to pull herself up into standing position
     
    COGNITIVE AND MENTAL DEVELOPMENT
    • Reaches for spoon when being fed
    • Pushes away undesirable objects
    • Turns away when finished eating
    • Tastes everything
    • Claps and waves hands
    • Can hold and manipulate one object while looking at another
    • Begins to learn implications of own actions
    • Distinguishes smells
    • Points with finger 
    • Looks for dropped object
     
    SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
    • Says “dada” and “mama,” indiscriminately addressing parents
    • Resists doing something undesirable; pushes away undesirable objects
    • Attached to parents
    • May be wary of strangers
    • Shouts for attention
    • Pats, smiles, and tries to kiss image in mirror
    • Imitates people and behavior
