• Here's A Simple and Effective Bedtime Routine That Can Help Your Baby Sleep Soundly
Plus! An easy-to-use app that can track your baby’s sleep habits.
  • Did you know that babies need as much as 11 hours of sleep a night? Unfortunately, about 25-30% of all babies and toddlers have trouble sleeping. What's a harried parent to do?

Start a bedtime routine, of course! A sense of regularity will help a child relax at night, and make him more likely to fall asleep and get some quality ZZZs. Here are a few quick tips to help you establish an ideal one:

    Give him a bath

A warm bath is a surefire way to calm your baby down after playtime, and also serves as a mommy-baby bonding session. A warm bath every night can also be your baby's cue that it's time for bed. Most moms think bathing baby at night would cause him to get cold, but a nice warm bath can actuallys set the mood for a nice deep sleep. Of course, be sure to use only bath products that are gentle on his delicate skin.

    Give him a massage

Everyone loves a massage, babies included! A nighttime massage induces the release of serotonin, the so-called feel good brain chemical that can help prime him for sleep. Feel free to use either baby lotion or baby oil during massages—ones that have calming essences that can help soothe and relax your baby.

Sing a lullaby or read a bedtime story

With bath time done, it's now time for calmer, quieter activities. Singing him a lullaby or reading him a story are excellent options because aside from lulling him to sleep, they'll also help expand his vocabulary.

Give him one last feeding before bed

Hunger can wake your baby up in the middle of the night, so it's a good idea to give him one last feeding before bedtime. However, be sure to feed him only until he starts feeling drowsy—not until he completely falls asleep. Otherwise, he may expect a meal as a pre-condition for sleeping.

    Bonus Tip!

Make sure you choose a reliable set of products like the JOHNSON'S® Bedtime Range and Routine.
