Cultivate your toddler’s skills with these fun playtime tips.

At the Active Baby Stage (9 -18 months), movement is actually one of the best ways your child can learn about himself and the world around him.

Today’s fun Playtime Tip is Surprise!

For most toddlers, the wrapping paper on a gift is as fun as the gift itself.  They love bright colors, the noise the wrapper makes, and the challenge of discovering what is inside.

You can enjoy this activity any day of the year if you gather several of his/her favorite toys and books and wrap them loosely in colorful paper (no tape) as he/she watches.

Show him/her one package at a time asking what’s inside.  Let him/her remove the wrapper but lend a hand if he/she gets frustrated.  Pile the paper while commenting on the sound it makes and how it feels.

Skills: Coordination, Problem Solving, Sensory Exploration and Tactile Discrimination.
