Being a parent is the most rewarding job in the world. But no doubt, it’s one of the hardest as well. Sometimes, a little parenting inspiration goes a long way to help keep our fighting spirits up. Here are three stories of super humans--parents!--that we’re grateful made the social media rounds this week: 1. This mom who pumped milk while running a half marathon
For breastfeeding moms out there, this one’s for you. Anna Young from Salt Lake City in the U.S., pulled out a hand pump during a half-marathon and kept running!
The mom told Babble that she had a rough start with breastfeeding because of clogged ducts and mastitis. But soon, she was well on her way to breastfeeding and didn’t want to compromise any progress she and her then 5-month-old daughter had already made. So she brought the pumps along with her! Just goes to show, whether pumping at work, on a plane, at the mall or while running a marathon, moms will find a way to feed their babies. (Source: Babble)
2. This dad who’s been leaving lunchbox notes to his daughter for three years
It all started when illustrator Rob Biddulph’s daughter was only 4 years old and was a little teary-eyed about moving to big school. It meant she would miss lunchtime at home and will now have to eat in school. To comfort her, Rob left his daughter a drawing he made just for her inside her lunchbox. “When she came home she asked what the next one would be,” he told Buzzfeed. He hasn’t stopped since, drawing for her every day. There’s so much of it now that there was recently an exhibition for a few his wonderful Post-it notes for his daughter. Amazing work, dad. 3. This pregnant mom who went to work with a 3-year-old on her back
We know. The picture above is a lot to take in. Megan Meier, who is in the photo, is a sports medicine physician and mom to a 3-year-old. She’s also 35 weeks pregnant. The photo had been taken while she was covering a high school football game.
That day her husband was away for the weekend and her daughter's babysitter cancelled. Instead of backing out of the volunteer work, she multitasked in the most awesome way by strapping her daughter to her back and getting her pregnant self to the game. “[My daughter] has been coming to sporting events with me since she was two weeks old,” she told Mashable. “She seems to really enjoy sports which is great considering my field.” You’re an inspiration to us all, mom!
