The Mompreneur: Raquel A. Chan (mom to Kaiser Travis, who is still in her womb; she’s five months pregnant!)
Her Business: Funtote Philippines
The Idea: I imported tote bags from Funtote New York because I'm such a big fan of eco-bags. I am very low-maintenance and I adore fashion. When I stumbled upon Funtote New York, I instantly fell in love with their tote bags as I could use it everywhere I go (shopping, gym, travels) and look fashionable at the same time.
What Makes it Unique: My tote bags are eco-friendly, multi-functional, and highly fashionable. I know many women are fond of tote bags, especially when shopping. Eventually, we'll be minimizing the use of plastic bags in grocery stores and department stores and use canvas tote bags instead. These low-maintenance bags are perfect for busy moms as they can use the bags anywhere they go, they’re easy to clean (machine-washable), and very durable.
On Being a Mom: When I was six weeks pregnant, I was diagnosed with pulmonary embolism, caused by my pregnancy. Doctors said this is a fatal condition and I could die instantly anytime. We were given the choice to abort the baby and never try to have one anymore because it is dangerous for me, or to continue with the pregnancy and risk my life. It was a difficult decision to make, but after my husband and I asked for God’s guidance, we both decided to keep the baby and trust God’s plan for our family. With this condition, I realized that I have a great capacity to love. I love my husband even more and I love my baby so much that I am ready to give my life for them.
