We’ve been asking moms to share their party directory with us! This one is for a 7th birthday party that mixed DIY decorations with great food and a spacious venue. (Check out our directory for a baptism party here.)
When entrepreneur couple Jackie and PJ asked their daughter Julia what she wanted for her 7th birthday, the little girl did not have cartoon characters in mind. After looking at Pinterest for inspiration, she and her mom decided on a palette of fuchsia, pink, gold, and mint with balloons, tassels, and buntings as décor. It was festive but elegant.
The couple opted for a DIY route for the decorations, so they could splurge on food and entertainment. Jackie counts herself lucky that she had two kasambahays who were good at replicating the sample decorations that she created and who had fun with the project for their alaga.
They also decided to have one supplier for the venue and catering. The weeks of planning, preparation and a lot of DIY paid off because according to Jackie, “Everyone had a great time.”

Jackie and her husband value good food and experience above all else, so they decided to splurge on food and drinks. They also chose The Mess Hall as a venue because of its large space and ample parking slots for the guests.
Jackie did the invitations using a website that provides ready-made designs and templates. She sent it out via email and SNS — “easy and gets the job done.” But she printed a few copies and gave it to guests she could personally reach.
Most of the party decorations came from Shopee. “What I like about them is that they have a lot of suppliers that provide a wide variety of products. Plus, they deliver so you don’t have to brave the traffic of going to different locations to get your materials.” Julia says. But the mom of two also advises to allot enough allowance for the delivery period. “I find [online suppliers] reasonable but some deliver later than promised. Better plan ahead.”
