  • Princess Aurora Party
“The Sleeping Beauty” is probably one of the most popular ballets around, mainly because of its fairy tale ending and its lovely music (by Tchaikovsky). The ballet begins with the christening of the Princess Aurora. The king and queen invite everyone from world dignitaries to fairies, except the evil Carabosse, who is angry for not being invited and curses the Princess: On her 16th birthday, she will prick her finger on a spindle and die. The Lilac fairy softens the curse and declares that the princess will not die but merely sleep until she is awakened by the kiss of a prince.

Décor: Royal, grand décor for a palace-like feel. Use different colored roses on table centerpieces to represent the Rose Adagio, one of the most popular dances in the ballet.

Gifts: In the ballet, the good fairies gave gifts of honesty, grace, prosperity, song and generosity. Aside from toys and clothes, encourage your guests to give a specific virtue they would like to give to your daughter, which they can simply write on a card.

Activities: You can do face-painting to look like the characters: the good fairies, Carabosse, Puss n’ Boots, White Cat, Bluebird, Red Riding Hood and the Wolf.

Giveaways: Gold, silver, sapphire and diamond baubles and bangles; tiara; a magic wand
