  • The choice of venue for the first birthday celebration of Roxanne Barcelo and her husband Jiggs's first child Cinco holds a special place in the couple's hearts.

Roxanne shared the story behind their choice in her recent Instagram post, sharing some photos taken from Cinco's birthday bash.

She wrote in the caption, "Celebrated Cinco’s 1st birthday where Jiggs and I went on our first date, McDonald’s!"

The actress-singer added a few details of their first date in parentheses, hinting that it happened sometime in 2019. They met at breakfast, and they had sausage McMuffin, hashbrown, and chocolate. She also commented, "Pak ang aga!"

Roxanne announced in December 2020 that she'd gotten married, but she only introduced Jiggs to her social media followers about a year later, in late 2021.

Roxanne then turned romantic and even prophetic: "When I first met Jiggs, I had this thought come over me, that he would be the father of my children. Apparently, they are right when they say 'you know from the very beginning.'"

She explained, also in parentheses: "Siyempre di ko sinabi agad sa kanya noh. hinayaan ko muna siya magsabi na ako ang the one niya. Ngyawwww...Saka ko nireveal lel!"

The now mom of one exclaimed, "After 3 years, here we are celebrating our son’s big One. Wuhoooo! Love you, Cinco!!!"

She gave an additional message to her son, again in parentheses: "Anak, I lab you. Tadtad pisngi mo ng kizzz." She used the hashtage #may22 apparently indicating the her son's birthdate.

Roxanne then addressed her sentimental message to both Jiggs and Cinco: "I now have my own family in you two. Love you both with all that I am."

But the badidap in her couldn't help adding, in parentheses: "Yes, madrama akong ina. Ganon talaga."

She also took the opportunity to tell her husband he's the "best daddy to our little love that I could ever wish, pray, hope for." Also to greet him "Happy Father’s Day aking mahal, adding "Pakissssssss dadaaaaaaa!"

    First birthday party ideas

Birthday parties are important, according to an article, as these represent the children's growth enhancemenr and keep them on par with their peers. Having birthday parties also increases the kids' self-esteem, strengthens family bonds, establishes social relationships, creates positive memories, and helps in the perception of time.

Here are some party ideas from the Smart Parenting:

    Recreate the classic perya

Give your child a blast from your past, such as the local fair, or perya. Incorporate different kinds of iconic perya attractions, like game booths, circus acts, or even rides that kids can enjoy. Deck out your venue with colorful streamers and bright lights, and provide snacks like cotton candy, popcorn, sago’t gulaman, and street foods.

Have fun under the sun in your garden

For a more laid-back way of celebrating your child’s first birthday, why not host a simple gathering in your own backyard? Lay down a couple of picnic blankets and prepare baskets with yummy treats like finger sandwiches, cupcakes, and cookies, served in reusable printed paper plates and cups.

    Get dancing and prancing

Put together a dance party for your baby and their other kiddie friends. Aside from playing fun, upbeat music to encourage the kids (and the parents) to loosen up and dance around, you can also come up with fun games that involve dancing, such as the iconic “Stop Dance” and “Trip to Jerusalem.”

    Put together a time capsule

One fun thing you can do along with your guests is to create a time capsule to help your child remember his or her birthday. Have your guests write down simple notes or bring items that will help show your child what the world was like when he or she was just a baby, such as photographs and a flash drive containing famous songs or films, then put them all together in a box.

Just make sure to keep the box in a safe spot, then after about 10 to 20 years, show that box to your child and take a nostalgic trip through memory lane together. If you want, you can make this a tradition during your child’s subsequent birthdays.

    Get some birthday brunch

Instead of merienda-style snacks or heavier dishes normally served for lunch or dinner parties, give your guests yummy meals to start their day right. Think pancakes, waffles, and bacon, accompanied by milk for the kids and fresh coffee for the adults.
