One of our digital editors says this video is perfect if you need to let go of tension at the end of stressful day. It's a 15-minute guided meditation that will have you lying on your back and focusing on tension-relieving breath and body scanning. You can do it the morning just before you get up or at night to help you sleep better. “You don’t even have to watch the video, the audio is enough,” she says.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOWCONTINUE READING BELOWRecommended Videos

Headspace is one of the most popular – if not the most popular – meditation apps out there. Many have sung it praises, including The New York Times, for its utter simplicity, ease of use, and most importantly, how just about anyone looking for a bit of peace in their life will find that it’s just what they need, even those who have never tried meditation before.
One of the best things about it is that it makes meditation portable. Downloaded on your smartphone, the starter pack will give you 10-minute meditation sessions that can be done virtually anywhere where you can find a quiet place to sit; during lunch, at your office desk or even on the train. It even includes short clips between sessions that give tips on how to better meditate.
Available for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
3. Belisa Vranich' 5-minute breathing exercise
Do you notice if you take shallow breaths from your lungs or deep breaths from your belly? Shallow breaths tell the body it’s in flight-or-flight mode, and belly breaths tell it all is well, according to psychologist Belisa Vranich who “has taught everyone from Fortune 500 employees to SWAT teams how to breathe for stress relief and endurance,” says Oprah.com.
Deep breathing is essential for real relaxation, adds Vranich. The exercise is simple and only takes a minimum of 5-minutes (longer if you want) needing only for you to control your breathing. It doesn’t need guidance after a while either. After going through the steps, you’ll be able to do it on your own whenever and wherever you want. “The breath is available at any time,” Vranich says. “You own it. It's yours.” See how to do it here.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
