Iya Villania recently took to Instagram to share what her and her husband Drew Arellano's first born child, Primo, went through and the lessons their fellow parents can also learn from.
Iya began her post with a caution as it contains four photos showing the different stages of Primo's ailment: "Warning! If you’re eating, you might not want to see these crusty pix just yet. Just want to share this with fellow parents…"
She went on telling the story: "Drew and I never thought this could happen from wiping your nose so much. Primo had the sniffles and so being the big boy he is, he would go ahead and wipe his nose."
The mom of three said the eldest child used "a mix of dry facial tissue and saline wipes but more of the saline wipes."
Iya explained what Primo did: "He wiped so much that eventually the area around his nose got so red and inflamed." Later on, she said, "Our doc called it out as cellulitis and that if it worsened that he’d have to be admitted as the infection might approach the brain."

It happens when a crack or break in the skin allows bacteria to enter. If left untreated, the infection can spread to the lymph nodes and bloodstream, and may rapidly become life-threatening.
Iya went on giving an update on the condition of Primo, 5, who's the kuya of Leon, 3, and Alana, 1. She exclaimed, "Thank God he didn’t have to be admitted and looks like we’re recovering."
She added, "But just wanted to give the mamas and papas a heads up coz as much as we want our children to learn to be independent, we never want to see them in a situation like this. I know… it’s a hard mix."
She ended her post with positive vibes: "Love to all the mamas, papas and little people out there!" She also wrote a postscript: "First pic was the start and the following pics were the succeeding days. It’s all drying up now and slowing falling off. Last 2 pix edited by Primo."
When Iya's post was shared on the Smart Parenting Village Facebook page, a lot of moms got concerned. Some of them have kids with similar cases, while the others gave suggestions on what to use for wiping snot or sipon.

Another one said, "The best pampunas sa may sipon soft cloth cotton na basa."
One thing's for sure: utmost care and attention should be given to kids, even if they have what a lot of people will dismiss as sipon lang.
