Families and kids have always been part of the yearly music and arts fest. This year's Malasimbo Festival, however, has upped its offerings for family and kids to include a playground! The 800-square-meter playground, which is constructed mostly from bamboo, and features rope ladders, swings, seesaws, bridges, and sandboxes, was built in consultation with Waldorf School designer Jun Piedad and teacher Luisa Jimenez. 2. Strawberry Festival
March 18 at La Trinidad, Benguet

The month-long celebration has already started and will end in a culminating activity next month. With this year's theme "Sowing the Seeds of Meaningful Friendship," the festival features everything from Benguet's famous strawberries and other temperate veggies and fruits in season. It will also feature the beautiful blooms of the region. 3. Lubao International Balloon Festival

If you missed the Philippine Hot Air Balloon Festival, this is your chance to witness one of the biggest festivals in Southeast Asia. Now on its third year, the Lubao Hot Air Balloon Festival will feature more than 50 hot air balloons, including special-shaped balloons such as Darth Vader, Yoda, Humpty Dumpty to name a few. The annual festival celebrated in honor of San Isidro Labrador, the patron saint of farmers, peasants, laborers is celebrated to give thanks to a bountiful harvest. It is well celebrated in Lucban, where the most extravagant preparations and activities happen. If you have family or friends in the area, it would be easier to bring the kids to let them witness the Filipinos' creativity and hospitality.
