Last May 8, a day before Mothers’ Day, Canon conducted its first free Art Workshop entitled, “Be Inspired with Canon Creative Park” at Fully Booked High Street’s Top Shelf. Children 3 to 12 years old engaged themselves in exciting arts and crafts activities facilitated by Angela Mapa and Corina Pettijohn.
Besides snacks of skewered hotdogs with marshmallows and sweet spaghetti, the kids also interacted with the arts and crafts gurus as they demonstrated how to make different paper crafts. It was made a lot easier, thanks to Canon Creative Park which provided pre-drawn patterns and easy-to-follow instructions on where to cut and fold.
Present among the mommies and the kids were blogger Iris Pulga, better known as the writer behind entrepremom and her daughter Yona.
Mothers sat beside their children, helping them craft the gifts they would get the day after. It was a bonding moment that they were sure to rekindle. The kids made origami pet puppies, colorful CD sleeves, and greeting cards complete with lively envelopes. They were also taught basic, yet creative scrapbooking skills with the materials provided that afternoon. Canon took photos, printed them in their Pixma printers, and distributed them as souvenirs for everyone.
The next art workshop will be held on June 19 in the same venue from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Families who experienced Canon Creative Park will surely return to learn more. For those interested in participating, call 8849090 local 9139 to register before the event. While the first workshop served as a tribute to mothers everywhere, the next one will focus on one special figure, mother Earth.
