In case you missed the guidelines, capacity and age restrictions have been lifted on movie houses and theaters in areas under Alert Level 1. This means cinema movie dates are back on the list of things you can do with your family during weekends!
While enjoying a movie night at home has its own charms, you can't deny the exciting appeal you can get from watching films inside a movie theater. So, if you're ready to bond with the whole brood and get to experience the big screen again, here's a list of some family-friendly films now showing in the various cinemas in the country. We're sure you'll enjoy them as much as your kids (or even more!)
Before you sit back, relax, and enjoy the show, make sure to be informed of the safety protocols still in place.
Under the guidelines, entry to closed and crowded establishments, such as movie houses requires proof of vaccination. Minors or those aged 17 and below do not need to prove vaccination status as long as they are accompanied by fully-vaccinated adults.
Major cinema theaters inside malls like Robinsons, SM, Ayala Malls, and Uptown allow moviegoers to bring in food and drinks.
It's also advised to check in with the local government unit where the cinema house or theater is located for any updates on COVID-19 related restrictions.
Let's start with the latest movie offering. This family and kiddie movie just opened in Philippine cinemas last April 27, 2022. The latest DreamWorks Animation and Universal Pictures International movie offering features five furry friends and their adventure as they try to rewrite their identity from bad guys to good fellas.
It's expected to emanate heartwarming scenes that will lend a lesson or two about kindness and acceptance.
The Lost City (Rated PG)
Want to say goodbye to all the stress and just laugh out loud with your whole brood? Then this is the film for you. Hollywood big names Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, Daniel Radcliffe, and Chris Hemsworth team up for a comedy slash treasure hunting movie.
Off to find ancient lost treasure, the troupe gets themselves into an epic jungle adventure.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Rated PG)
Sonic once again battles the villain mad scientist Dr. Robotnik who he has faced already in the first installment of this movie adaptation of the video game. The rivalry aside, Common Sense Media says Sonic's "childish outlook and humor help make him relatable to kids."
The plot also includes scenes where the main character "learns important social and emotional and life skills (like teamwork and personal responsibility)."
However, be warned as the movie also includes remarks and jokes that may not be suited for young audiences.
