Join a homeschooling conference
Philippine Homeschooling Conference: Homeschool to the Future, organized by the Homeschool Association of the Philippine Islands, is happening this Saturday, Oct. 7, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Treston International College, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. Here are the topics: Parenting in the technological age by Sen. Francis Pangilinan; empowering the youth through unconventional education by Efren Penaflorida Jr.; and discovering a homeschooler's passion by Marissa Leinart. There will be more than 10 breakout sessions as well, and it will have a fair for exhibitors and kids activites set up at the venue. Entrance fee is P1,000. Find full event details here.
Celebrate with Tahanan Books!
Tahanan Books is celebrating its 25th anniversary with an afternoon of activities for bookworms young and old. Growing Up With Books is happening this Saturday, Oct. 7, from 2 to 5 p.m., at Fully Booked, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. Scheduled events include a talk on how to raise early readers by Dr. Carmen Bonoan of Reach Out and Read Philippines (she taught us how to read and choose books for children here), a meet-and-greet book signing for Intramuros: The Walled City by Adrian Panadero, and a book talk with the team behind A Lolong Time Ago.

Embrace Autism Philippines has invited Raun K. Kaufman, the senior teacher for The Son-Rise Program at The Autism Treatment Center of America, to discuss strategies and tools parents can utilize to better understand and support a child with autism.
Kaufman's lecture, titled Autism Help, will be held in three cities in the Philippines. There's one happening this Sunday, Oct. 8, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the Insular Life Corporate Centre, Muntinlupa City. He will also be at Cebu Parklane International Hotel in Cebu City on Oct. 10 and at the Sugarland Hotel in Bacolod City on Oct. 11. Participation fee is 700. Museo Pambata is having a Toy Drive for their annual December Gift Giving activity. Gather up gently used toys and books and head to Museo Pambata, Roxas Boulevard corner South Drive, Manila. Donations may be dropped off at the lobby or administrative office. Weapon-like toys such as guns and swords are discouraged as well as small toys that pose as choking hazards. Attend a basic first aid workshop for children
