Worry No More If Your Kids End Up Watching Netflix Without You NoticingThey're also offering more tools to restrict screen time!by Kitty Elicay .
One great thing about having a Netflix account is that it can be shared by the whole family. The only downside is that the kids can still access mommy and daddy’s profiles and possibly watch movies and shows that are not appropriate for their age. Well, those days are over as Netflix introduces stricter parental controls for kids stuck at home during the enhanced community quarantine period.
Netflix parental controls
Starting today, April 8, 2020, Netflix users will now have better control options for personal profiles and the designated kids’ portal. Here are the changes that the streaming service has rolled out:
Remove titles from profilesADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOWCONTINUE READING BELOWRecommended Videos
The biggest change is the ability to remove individual TV series or movies by title so it will not appear on the profile, regardless of what maturity rating you have chosen. So if your kids love Peppa Pig but you think they should avoid watching it in the meantime, you can make it disappear from their profiles.
Just type in the title and choose which ones to remove from the search results. The restrictions will be limited per profile, so you can still access that show from another user.
This feature allows a Netflix account holder to restrict the maturity rating of shows and films that appear on each profile. For example, you can choose to show only shows and films with a G-rating or include titles that are rated for ages 7+, 13+, 16+, and 18+.

Tools to restrict screen timeADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
To prevent your kids from accessing your profile (or to make sure that other people can’t mess with your watch list), you can now assign a 4-digit PIN code to lock your profile. You also get to see what your child has been watching with viewing history and disable autoplay on TV shows (where the next episode will immediately play after you’re done with one episode). These are all pretty helpful for parents who want to restrict screen time.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
"Choice and control have always been important for our members, especially parents. We hope that these additional controls will help parents make the right choices for their families," said Michelle Parsons, Netflix Kids Product Manager, in a blog post.
To activate these parental controls, you must be logged in to your Netflix account using a web browser. Go to Account and choose which profile you want to manage. Once the settings are saved, it will be applied to all devices where you use your account.
