You and the Kids Need to Try This One-Day Storytelling Yoga Class“Children’s faces literally light up when they figure out a pose, and they squeal, ‘I did it!’”by SmartParenting Staff .
Pumplepie Books & Happiness, an online bookstore specializing in Filipino children’s books, advocates both reading and being active. Among their bestsellers are two children’s yoga books, Amazing Me Yoga for Kids by Nica Hechanova and Today Tala’s Adventure Begins by Dr. Raissa Paje-Bayawa.
“We always receive positive feedback for both books from parents, teachers and kids; the poems have kids giggling as they imitate the cute illustrations to get into the yoga poses,” says Pumplepie owner, Alexine Parreño.
To further extend the experience Pumplepie customers get from the books, Pumplepie and the books' authors have collaborated for an exciting summer yoga class. Called “Ready, Set, Yoga! A Parent & Child Yoga Adventure,” it will cater to parents and children ages 3 to 8 years old. Nica and Dr. Raissa happen to be certified yoga instructors, so they will lead the class, using excerpts from their books, in Urban Ashram Yoga at Bonifacio Global City on April 7, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW

“Kids’ yoga is a lot of fun! Children’s faces literally light up when they figure out a pose and they squeal, ‘I did it!’” says Dr. Raissa, who is also a pediatrician. “It’s extremely fulfilling to see children develop focus, perseverance and strength through movement and stillness. Yoga is definitely for everyone regardless of age and physical, mental and emotional health status.”
Along with Dr. Raissa, Nica Hechanova will be one of the yoga instructors.
Teacher Nica also speaks of her passion, “I wrote Amazing Me because I wanted to bring yoga to people's homes. I wanted kids to discover their amazing minds, bodies and hearts through the creative and fun practice of kids’ yoga.”
“Participants will receive signed copies of both books so after learning the basic yoga poses in class, your family can practice yoga anytime at home while enhancing your child's reading skills,” adds Alexine, whose yoga partner at the event will be her 6-year old daughter Adriana.
Ticket prices are at P1,500 per parent and child, inclusive of a 45-minute yoga class, both the authors’ books (valued at P1,130 a set), yoga mat rental, gifts and raffle prizes from sponsors. Parents are welcome to bring more than one child at a special rate of P350 per additional child. Tickets are available at pumplepie.com or call 0919-911-2421.CONTINUE READING BELOWRecommended Videos
