Prepare apples: Heat butter in a pan. Toss sugar with the apple pieces; place in the pan. Cook until the apples start to soften. Remove from heat. Set aside.
Prepare oatmeal: In a medium pan, boil water. Add in oatmeal and stir continuously until cooked, about 5 minutes.
Divide the oatmeal into serving bowls.
Fold in cinnamon (about ¼ teaspoon per cup), raisins, and the cooked diced apples.
Drizzle each bowl with maple syrup and top with cornflakes.
