  • Apple and Spice Porridge

    Whip up this fruity and spicy treat!

    • 2½ cups water
    • 1½ cups rolled oats (not instant)
    • 1 bottle maple syrup
    • ½ raisins
    • 2 cups cornflakes
    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
    • ¼ cup butter
    • 2 tablespoons sugar
    • 1 cup peeled and diced apples


    1. Prepare apples: Heat butter in a pan. Toss sugar with the apple pieces; place in the pan. Cook until the apples start to soften. Remove from heat. Set aside.
    2. Prepare oatmeal: In a medium pan, boil water. Add in oatmeal and stir continuously until cooked, about 5 minutes.
    3. Divide the oatmeal into serving bowls.
    4. Fold in cinnamon (about ¼ teaspoon per cup), raisins, and the cooked diced apples.
    5. Drizzle each bowl with maple syrup and top with cornflakes.
