It's the perfect traditional Filipino merienda or dessert. If your kids haven't tasted this combo, this might be the trick to get them to appreciate Pinoy dessert.
Switch up your regular chocolate fondue with these Filipino favorites: tablea and ensaymada. Make traditional tablea sauce -- which you can also drizzle over ice cream, spread on sandwiches, or simply enjoy on its own! It can also be mixed in with your favorite beverages.
3 pieces ensaymada, cubed and grilled 1 cup chocolate tablea sauce
For the tablea chocolate sauce: 8 pieces unsweetened tablea 1/3 cup sugar 1 cup water 1/4 cup glucose or corn syrup
Make it!
1 First, make the tablea chocolate sauce recipe: Mix tablea, sugar, and water together in a saucepan over low heat. Continue stirring until chocolate melts.
2 Stir in glucose or corn syrup. Remove from heat and transfer to sterilized bottles. You can store this in the refrigerator for up to three weeks.
3 Work on the ensaymadas: Cube and grill ensaymada on large toothpicks.
4 Arrange on a plate with tablea chocolate sauce and serve warm.
