Meal Plan: Simple Noche Buena Menu For 4 For Under P1,200
  • You can plan a simple Noche Buena menu at home! One important thing to remember is to plan your meal as early as now so you don't have to worry about the menu at the last minute.

With this meal plan for Christmas dinner, you are free from trying to figure out how to budget your funds to properly celebrate this year for under P1,100

What we love about this menu is the ability to swap out dishes you think you prefer. Not only that, you can skip a course that you feel is not necessary. You can even remove one course and opt instead to have your favorite dish delivered from your preferred restaurant.

If you were able to make a simple Noche Buena before for around P1,000, you still can make a budget Noche Buena around the same budget feel like it's from a restaurant.

With this budget, you should also have enough to buy a ham that's also within your budget. If you don't have a budget but time is a concern, you can make an elegant Noche Buena in 3 hours.

Choose the first option if you have a budget of around P1,100 or the second option if you have a budget of P1,500.

If you're in the mood for a delicious start to your meal, dust off your blender or food processor and make either of these soup options.

One is a creamy kalabasa or pumpkin soup. The other, a complex soup made of carrot, chicken, and corn soup that's made easy to sip, especially for the little ones.

Do you really want bacon and croutons on top of your soup? Add P32 for the bacon and P43 for the croutons. Save money by making the croutons yourself by toasting bread cubes and tossing it in the bacon oil.

Air Fryer Lechon Recipe (P312) or Pinoy-Style Chicken Recipe (P369)

The main dish is always going to be the one dish on the menu you should spend on. However, even we understand the budget restraints for this dish.

The chicken galantina or the stuffed lechon may be what you're used to but it can be expensive to buy and difficult to make.

That's why we suggest you keep it simple with either of these two meaty options and pair it off with a stuffing that is on the side instead.

Bacon and Bread Stuffing Recipe (P160) or Chorizo Rice Stuffing Recipe (P172)

It was recommended years ago that you should not cook stuffing in your chicken. That's because the stuffing was commonly undercooked since it's inside the chicken.

It doesn't always become cooked through properly. Since overcooking the chicken to ensure that the stuffing is cooked through right results in dry chicken, cooking the stuffingÂseparately from the chicken is perfectly accepted.

Besides, this means you can also properly cook the filling instead of worrying over whether it's cooked properly.

Ham and Potato Salad Recipe (P188) or Chicken Macaroni Salad Recipe (P301)

One might think ham would be more expensive than serving chicken but for this dish, make it more affordable and heartier with potatoes and ham. It remains super creamy and flavorful with a mayonnaise dressing.

Save money if you're making the chicken macaroni by cooking the chicken yourself. You can even use leftover chicken or even an already cooked rotisserie chicken for this recipe.
