  • This 40sqm apartment in Silang, Cavite looks so cozy!

Almost every piece of furniture in this tiny home is made from wooden pallets, from the sofa, console table, to the dining table.

“When we moved here, we had no furniture—we only had a bed, a TV, and an electric fan,” homeowner Mai De Dios shares with Real Living. "First home namin 'to [ng family ko] kaya wala kaming sariling gamit."

Instead of purchasing a new set of furniture, however, the couple decided to build their own! ”We wanted to customize our furniture since we have a small space," she shares.

"We also want [our home] to feel cozy and homey even if we're just renting it.”

The couple’s dining area looks like a chill hangout spot. Since they’re low on space, they opted for stools that can be stashed under the table when not in use.

You can also spot a mini home office behind the dining table!

Building their own furniture truly helped Mai and her partner to maximize their space. Another perk? The wooden pieces are "lightweight so I can easily move them around,” she shares.

According to Mai, it took about a year for her husband to make the furniture since he has also been crafting wooden products for their online business, Project La Foi

“We only spent a total of P4,800 for the materials used to make our furniture," shares Mai.

To make their wooden pieces last, “may coating ang mga palett,” she shares. “We also make sure to keep our home clean to prevent pest infestations. [Thankfully], wala din ipis at daga sa bahay namin.”

Mai’s tiny home is also peppered with indoor plants, which adds a calming vibe to the space. “Kahit [maliit ‘yung] space namin, nakahanap kami ng spots for [the plants.]”

The couple installed wooden shelves in their dining area-slash-home office, where they beautifully displayed some hanging plants!
