With so many house tours popping up, especially from celebs, it can be easy to forget that you do not have to hire professionals in most cases to change the look and feel of your personal space. Sometimes, all you need is courage, patience, and the will to make it happen.
Take Rose Ann Cameros Dator and her husband for example. They went the DIY route and gave their bedroom a transformation all on their own.
Speaking to Cosmopolitan Philippines in an exclusive interview, Rose said she and her husband were just sleeping on a mattress with two pillows when they first moved to their home.
Eventually, renovating a small room for visitors, they agreed to show their bedroom a little love, too. Here's what it looked like before:
The first concept they thought of was "modern eclectic," but it didn't turn out as planned, so they pivoted to a "modern tropical" look instead.
Fun fact: Rose credited Mr. & Mrs. B of Moss Design for inspiring them to try wall mouldings. While they were waiting for the headboard, the couple painted the entire room white and all the other ideas sort of just flowed from there.
They waited a month for the headboard to arrive and once it was there, the entire renovation took two days to complete. Rose shared that they did all the wall mouldings and the side table without any help. For the table, her husband welded it using the extra marine plywood that they had.
Rose and her husband has been loving their newly renovated room, describing it as a "haven" that gives them peace and relaxation.
