Look at How This Family's Gloomy and 'Makalat' Townhouse Got a Refreshing Makeover! The owners decided to renovate the property by changing its entire look and adding an extra floor.by Cielo Anne Calzado .
If you’re thinking of buying a secondhand property, you should know that there’s a possibility that you’ll get a house in need of major repairs, or worse, a complete renovation. When the owners of this townhouse acquired the property, they knew changes had to be done to create a bright and welcoming family home.
“Only the walls and beams were left as is. Lahat iniba na. Para kaming nagtayo ng bagong bahay,” the man of the house quips. Yes, the family didn't just bring in new furniture. With the help of interior designer Johanna Corteza, the family overhauled the kitchen, redesigned the staircase, and added an extra floor! The master bedroom and master bathroom can be seen on the fourth floor, including a walk-in closet and vanity nook.
From gloomy and makalat, the townhouse now looks modern and inviting. See the transformation

StaircaseIn creating a new staircase for the townhouse, the owners decided to use Narra wood. It was already installed when they realized the wood lacked treatment (wood used in homes are often treated with different products to avoid wood rot). They had to re-install it, but they spotted wood bugs during the second time. The staircase had to be installed thrice, and the whole process took a month or more.
