Divine Lee Dreamed A 'Girly' Bedroom That Her Daughter Would Love Even As A TeenThe celebrity mom was shuttling to between Manila and Cebu when she started putting this bedroom.by Jocelyn Valle .
Divine Lee is happy to have gone under budget in creating the colonial British India-themed nursery of her and her businessman-husband Blake Go’s daughter, Blanca Dietrich Lee Go, in their Manila home.
“I guess it takes patience, creativity, and a lot of time to get the best deals,” Divine told SmartParenting.com.ph in an email interview, adding she ended up spending less than she planned.
Divine explained the renovation project was a collaboration between her and interior decorator Bambi Hernandez-Cruz of Homespun Lifestyle. She enlisted Bambi to source for supplies and materials but also to come up with some DIY ideas. They previously worked together on the baby bedroom of the Go couple’s first-born child Baz, who turns 2 years old this May 5, both in their Manila and Cebu homes.
The duo took their time to complete the job as the celebrity mom and entrepreneur was shuttling between Manila and Cebu, where Blake’s business is based.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
“We started [while] Blanca was still in my tummy,” she said, “and [when] we finished, she’s already 4 months old. Haha! I wasn’t in a hurry because I co-sleep with the kids, and during the daytime, she’s usually in Baz’s room. I made a lot of purchases online with Bambi sending me links of what to get. She would also source from trips abroad.”CONTINUE READING BELOWRecommended VideosADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
Baby Blanca’s nursery is the only girly room in the house, and her mom made sure of that. “Since I’m not, hahaha!” Divine said. “We don’t have any floral or prints in the whole house, and I wanted her to have her own space, not just any room in the house.”ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
Divine and Bambi checked out several suppliers and choices until they came across with the gray wall mural on Etsy, a website specializing in handmade and vintage items. It then became the starting point for the whole room. It stood out even more with illumination from the gold cone floor lamp by Home Cartel.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
Divine sent the rattan items to Bambi, asked her interior designer if they could do something creative, and the answer was “kaya!”ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
Each rattan planter and tray that Bambi put together to come up with a side table costs just P1,000. Divine was able to save up a lot because her original budget for a conventional side table was P5,000 apiece.
The pair of chandeliers were made by Spinkie. Those two items, Divine noted, completed the look of Blanca’s picture-perfect bedroom.
Other noteworthy items are those sourced from Bali: the white wooden elephant on the side table, white wooden pineapple candelabra, and pink shell wreath.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
Divine is all praises for the furniture company that did the canopy above. She says, “I was so happy to find a local manufacturer that has global quality! They export, and their items are sooo nice. So that’s really relatively cheaper than all the same look decors from international sellers. And the craftsmanship is so good and purely Pinoy.”ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
For the bed, the pink ikat throw pillow and pillow shams (as well as the duvet cover) all came from H&M Home, while the lone white-and-gold zebra print throw pillow was snapped up from the Rachel Zoe Collection for Pottery Barn Kids.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
The pillows, both on the couch and bed, were sourced separately and diversely. For the sofa, the assorted throw pillows came from Lazada, Gourdo’s, and Amazon, while the monogrammed knitted pink lumbar pillow was picked up from Pottery Barn Kids.
Divine expressed delight in her finds that she said she scored at affordable prices. She shared one secret in getting more mileage from online shopping. “I bought on sale during the home sale but added to cart a long time ago. Waiting for a sale to check out.”ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
To soften the utilitarian look of the white table, Bambi paired it with a mini rattan peacock chair from Tropicale and on top it, she put a round table and vanity table lamp, both from Retail Therapy Philippines.
