Mom we Love: Marilen Faustino-MontenegroRead all about our featured mom, Marilen Faustino-Montenegro: her marriage, her blossoming career, and how she is embracing motherhood.by Lei Dimarucut-Sison .
We’re not sure who the bigger celebrity is, but our featured Mom, Marilen, insists that husband Hans Montenegro, former model and actor, is more well-known. As an interior designer-turned-model, and now doing both, we know she was being too modest. After all, don’t we all recognize that sweet smile from TV commercials?
“I was already doing TV commercials as a student. When I graduated with a degree in BS Interior Design, I worked for a while in an architecture/interior design firm. Later, I followed Myrza Sison’s suggestion to try out for PMAP (Professional Models’ Association of the Philippines), and when I passed, I quit my job and became active in modeling.”
Marilen’s slim figure and graceful bearings betray the fact that she gave birth to son Santiago Alejo, or Iago (pronounced ya'-go), only ten months ago. In this exclusive interview with Smart Parenting Online, she lets us in on her secret to staying slim and fresh.
“I’m exclusively breastfeeding Iago,” she discloses. One might think that someone as glamorous as her would resort to the more convenient formula feeding, but Marilen had her mind made up even before she conceived. “When I was pregnant I would read books and attend breastfeeding seminars so I was already aware of what to expect. At the hospital after he was born, he was able to latch right away. The doctor was glad to see that I was able to do it. But then, at home, I encountered some difficulty because I had sore nipples, which I think was because I was doing something wrong also. I hired a lactation consultant and she corrected my positioning. That is very important especially when the baby is very small and is hard to handle.” Persistence is obviously one quality Marilen possesses. “I was really committed to breastfeed and there was no turning back.”ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOWCONTINUE READING BELOWRecommended Videos
