  • Got an overly stimulated child and couldn't get him or her to calm down?

A little creativity always goes a long way. And sometimes, when you want to get a child’s attention, you have to do it like it were a game. To calm down a child who has so much energy bottled up, try making a calm-down “glitter jar.”

Just use any old jar and fill it with water, then add colorful bits of paper, sequins, glitters or buttons, then seal. Instead of a time out, every time your child gets antsy, just give him the jar and tell him to play with it until he calms down. They’ll enjoy seeing the glitters float around.

Let us know if it works for you!
