Time flies by so fast! It feels like it was only yesterday when "Glee" actress Naya Riveraannounced that she was pregnant with her and husband Ryan Dorsey’s first child just months after they were married.
My Domaine featured the nursery and described it as a “serene but impactful space full of high-contrast and graphic elements.” And we couldn’t agree more.

With the help of designer Angelo Surmelis, Naya’s vision of a gender-neutral and “not overly ‘kid-like’” nursery was brought to life.
“I actually was inspired by the teepee and sort of built the room around that,” she told My Domaine. “Then I stayed within the color palette of black, white, cream and gray.”
“I’m a big fan of wallpaper, and the graphic prints on the walls and the striped Roman shades gave the room a nice contrast that will be great for our baby,” she said.

We love how the room incorporates soft animal elements, like the sheep mobile and numerous scattered stuffed animals. It creates a nice balance between the bold patterns and restrained color palette.

“Some of the pieces we got—like the changing table—are just great ‘adult’ pieces that can be moved to any room later down the line,” she said.
The beautiful and delicate copper wire light fixture departs from the strict color palette. “I love so many things in the nursery, but my favorite would have to be the bird chandelier,” she said. “It's so fun and adds a pop of color and youth!”
Here’s a look at the room’s bookshelf. Aside from numbered baskets, the bookshelf also displays keepsakes like a wedding photo of Naya and her husband, and their baby’s ultrasound picture.

And, of course, here’s the seating corner. The chair is an armchair rocker with the walls behind it decorated with framed animal pictures.

“I'm looking forward to using the glider once the baby arrives,” Naya said. “I'm sure many nights will be spent bonding with our baby in that chair.”
There are still a few months to go before Naya gives birth and the nursery’s awaited occupant finally arrives. We can hardly wait, but not to worry, because time flies by so fast!
