  • After announcing early this month that they are expecting their first child, Slater Young and Kryz Uy proudly shared on social media yet another major project they’ve been working on for months: their home in Cebu which they refer to as the SKY POD.

Following their high-profile wedding in February of this year, vlogger Kryz and engineer/businessman Slater (who also happens to be the Pinoy Big Brother Unlimited grand winner) embarked on the task of building their modern log cabin-style house that is just a refreshing sight to behold. In March, Slater and Kryz’s contractor LLG Architects posted several perspective photos of the SKY POD on their Instagram account.

Now that the house is actually built and lived in, the Cebu-based couple gave their followers a virtual tour of the place they now call home in a 32-minute vlog on Kryz’s Youtube channel. And while the house in itself is just awesome, it’s also interesting to note how Slater and Kryz subtly show affection towards each other while they discuss how they collaborated on ideas for their home.

In Kryz’s intro, she mentions that it took them a year to plan, build, and furnish the SKY POD (Trivia: SKY stands for Slater & Kryz Young) with a lot of help from their suppliers. But, they’re not quite done yet.

“Almost! We still have to decorate our baby’s room but you get the point!” she writes.

Here are some of the highlights of their home tour.

    The living area

The focal point in the Youngs’ spacious industrial-style living room is what Kryz refers to as Slater’s dream couch. “It’s where he sleeps every afternoon,” she says.

Through the use of glass all around the house, an abundance of natural light floods the living room which is exactly how they want it. Kryz says, “[Slater] doesn’t want our future kids to just stay in the room the whole time so he wants the living area to be really bright and open.” There are also some pieces that you know are Kryz’s contribution to the overall look, such as a mini-leather seat in the shape of an elephant “where baby can sit.”

    The dining area

As with the living room, there is also just one major furniture in the dining room: the 10-seater dining table and leather chairs. Slater says it’s a gift from his father, who cut a very long piece of furniture and turned half of it into this table.

A Kenneth Cobonpue chandelier in the shape of a woman keeps the ambience from being too formal. They named the piece “Sia” (because, chandelier — get it? *wink*)

    The kitchen

As Slater and Kryz now realize, the heart of any home is the kitchen. Good thing theirs is the size of two large rooms at least and boasts of modern facilities, so their friends actually text them to go to their home and hang around.

Besides an LG Instaview French door refrigerator that allows you to see what’s inside by simply knocking twice on the door, the Youngs’ kitchen also have two ovens: one that’s conventional, and the other is a June smart oven. Since they both don’t cook a lot, the latter is helpful because it helps you whip up perfect dinners (such as a medium-rare steak, for example) each time with just a touch of a button.

The kitchen also has access to a control panel for the motorized curtains installed around the house (for privacy, because their house is made of glass). The curtains provide protection too against the sun’s rays which could damage the furniture in the house.

Kryz very proudly demonstrated their kitchen sink, too — just tap it anywhere for tap (see what we did there?)! A sleek DeLonghi coffee machine is a must-have for the couple who are coffee lovers.

    The master’s bedroom

Although the bedroom itself looks very manly with the use of leather in the headboard, a matte black accent wall, and a muted color palette, Kryz makes their private space her own with a walk-in closet that by itself is the size of another big room.

It has plenty of storage and mirrors, and Hollywood lights by the vanity. The pièce de résistance, says the couple, is their Ogawa massage chair which is heated and fully automated, perfect to soothe the body after a long day at work. Slater says they made it a point not to install a TV set inside the bedroom so it really becomes a place for relaxation that is free from distractions.
