Having children at home can indeed be challenging—especially when it comes to safety. Since the little ones are learning how to walk and are exploring the house by crawling and climbing up every corner, it's important to have a safe and secure space.
Here are important reminders to keep in mind to help you create a kid-friendly home:
DO create a safety plan Since safety is the priority of all kid-friendly homes, you must create an efficient plan to childproof the space. Research on what layout and furniture are ideal for your space. Should you create an open layout so that your kids can move around freely? Should you pick accessories made from plastic?
DON'T forget to cover your electric outlets To prevent your kids from placing objects inside the outlets, cover the unused outlets with electric tape. You can also use safety outlet covers in busy areas like the kitchen or living area to avoid accidents.
DO use corner guards for tables Kids love to run around the house and it's inevitable that they bump into corners and furniture. To avoid accidents, you can use corner guards and edge protectors to cushion the sharp edges of tables.
DON'T leave clutter on the floor Avoid leaving dangling wires, chargers, shoes, and toys on the floor as these may cause your child to slip or trip. You can hide cords at the back of the sofa or any other furniture piece. Doing so will also make your space look clean and organized.
