Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns, my husband and I finally had a chance to focus on building our home needs. We had been eyeing a kitchen and living area makeover but since we had limited budget, we decided to take advantage of thrift shops in our area and do the project ourselves instead of paying for labor costs.
Some of the items we wanted to upgrade were our dining table and sofa. Our goal was to declutter our kitchen and maximize storage, so we also decided to put cabinets and racks for condiments, water, and groceries.
Here are some of our thrifted furniture finds:
Kitchen Before
We had an open cabinet for storing our children's books and toys, and it also acts as laundry and clothes storage. We also had separate storage for containers, jugs, extra glasses, and other kitchen tools.

For our water and grocery organized, my husband used a square bar and tiles to make a five-level rack. It's movable in case we want to position it elsewhere afterward.

The dining table is also DIY. The glass is scrap donated by my brother-in-law and my husband built a frame out of stainless steel for it.
Living Room Before
This old sofa came from my mother-in-law. Unfortunately, it was invaded by 'surot' or bed bugs.
