We all dream of owning a home, but it is one of the biggest — not to mention costly — money decisions you will make as adults. If you have limited budget but really want a space you can call your own, why not try what this couple did: build a tiny house for Php280,000!
AB Magtulis and Hazel Garcia chose this budget-friendly option because they wanted to be more comfortable while working from home. To save on cost, they designed the house by themselves and did not hire an architect and engineer anymore.
Their tiny house, which is located a few steps away from Hazel’s family home, has a floor area of six square meters and a height of 15 feet. But while it might look cramped, it has everything they need: separate workstations, a sofa that doubles as storage, a bathroom and a loft bed. The house even has a roofdeck!

They shelled out more or less P280,000 for the furniture, landscaping, rooftop, and labor. “Binagay namin siya sa surroundings namin. ‘Yung color niya, kung mapapansin mo, earth colors. Country style ‘yung theme ng tiny house namin,” shares AB and Hazel.
The proud homeowners are happy and satisfied with their decision. “Na-realize ko na posible pal ana makapag-stay ka sa ganitong maliit na space and wala naman kaming regrets bakit namin nagawa ‘to,” AB says. “Mas nagaganahan pa kaming gawin ‘yung mga future plans namin kasi maraming nakaka-appreciate.”
